50 Episodes and 2021 in the mirror

Glad 2021 is behind us and looking forward to an amazing 2022. We are considering changing the name of our podcast as our focus is and has been beyond the discussion of aging. We are talking with people of all ages (at least from 30 to 85) and finding out that not only people are diverse, but what they are doing to help others is also impressively diverse.

We will keep up our special series on Grief and on Ani’s book, Self Love as Spiritual Practice.

And we are expanding our vision to focus on people who are practicing We Are All ONE. We will embrace the paradigm shift that we want to see in our neighborhood and the world: A shift from judging to loving kindness. To recognizing that everyone of us has a place in the whole and our task is to be curious about what people offer us all instead of condemning them for being “different”. We are all different! And unique and worthy of love and respect, and we all are important to the human race.

Podcasts

We have been going strong since moving into our new home in the Mueller community in Austin, TX. It looks like we with have one podcast a week for eight weeks in a row. Some really interesting people are agreeing to talk with us and investigate Growing Old(er)! Living Better. If you haven’t before you should check out the podcasts and subscribe to get the latest version when it publishes.

We Are All ONE — Mueller Style — COVID-19 2020

Night ten into the post Friday the 13th (of March). Somehow, I predicted that Friday, which turned out to be Friday the 13th, was going to be the last outing for me, or us — me and my husband of 2 ½ years. Now when you have your 79th birthday 9 weeks away, being married for only 2 ½ years is a big deal.

And it was a great night at our pub, BD Riley’s, at what is called St. Practice Day. Not only were friends from the Wisdom Crew there, but more,  I had this great conversation with Greg Weaver — the top guy at Catellus. Great because we spoke of new possibilities for developing what we call ONEderment Central, a great community building place to practice “We Are All ONE,” for a new kind of community center and to fill other unmet needs in our newish Mueller Neighborhood and for our surrounding neighborhood peoples.

Get’s down to it, it is people, the WE of We Are All ONE, that need to make new choices.

Have you read the theories that the way we have shifted the ecology of the planet has shifted the eco of the planet to bring this virus? Is it a WAKE UP call to how we are living and how we are not living well for the all, the greater oneness, the greater life structures of how everything is connected.

Growing up in the 40’s, yes the 1940s, Two Ton Baker used to sing about “the foot bone is connected to the ankle bone and the ankle bone is connected to the….and”

It is all connected.

Right now, the energy of fear around the virus and the economy is a danger in itself.

From an energy perspective “fear” has a low vibration — one that can motivate for sure, but also suppress life.

So can our fears of this virus motivate us to more love — to more recognition of how everything is connected and the truth — We Are All ONE?

Touched my face at least 3 times writing this. 11:08PM 3/24/2020

Podcasts

We are making the best of our enforced confinement. No, we are not ill, but we are in one of the most dangerous age groups for COVID-19 so we are self confining ourselves to our house with only occasional runs to get the groceries we need.

So, we decided to up our game on the podcasts. We will be interviewing more people and getting the interviews up more than once a week.

We have added in a topic for a new podcast. We will be talking about how we maneuver safely through the world in all of the many non-motorized methods. Bikes will be a big part of the discussion but trikes, scooters, hand cycles, wheel chairs and walking with be subjects of our interviews. We have two interviews scheduled, one with Bill Nesper, the Executive Director of the League of American Bicyclists; and one with Rheannon Cunningham, a bicycle racer and Austin Police Department officer who is in charge of the bicycle efforts, and that enforcement for cyclists and enforcement of the safe passing ordinance.

We expect to be talking to people riding trikes (like we do) and one of our neighbors about his stint on a hand cycle when he broke his ankle mountain biking off a culvert cover. We have contact with a rider of a powered single wheel skate board. Not exactly human powered but a wheeled vehicle that isn’t a “motor vehicle”.

Make sure you check into both of our podcasts. Growing Old(er)! and It Depends | Riding Safely.

Oh that’s refreshing

Today, I had this great time getting my New York Times account straightened out so I could read all the articles that I want online. Over the last 40+ years I’ve started, cancelled and started again many times. We laughed and when I said it was so nice to talk to a person, he said,”Most people want to talk to a robot.” Later, as we were finishing it up I said, “I read various articles to get inspired.” Pause. “We’re doing some incredible things.” I mentioned what, and said, “Guess how to spell ONEderment. “That sounds like a trick question,” he responded. “Yes, that’s the point.” Slowly he spelled out “O-N-E-D-E…” I interrupted, excited that he got it right. Then I shared about We Are All ONE – WAAO. He said, “Oh, that’s refreshing.”

So, sorry I don’t remember his name.

He said he’d check it out after work. I said, “Well, you have my email.”
